Lysine-proline-valine (KPV), an inherently occurring tripeptide, has been suggested to attenuate the inflammatory responses of colonic cells. The researchers’ findings suggest that “HA-KPV-NPs have synergistic benefits on UC, promoting mucosal repair and reducing inflammation. Hydrogel (chitosan/alginate)-encapsulated HA-KPV-NPs demonstrated greater therapeutic effectiveness against UC in a mouse model due to their enhanced ability to prevent mucosa damage and downregulate TNF-“.
Lysine, proline, and valine (KPV) are three N-terminal amino acids proven to mediate their anti-inflammatory effects. The KPV peptide has been suggested to have an even greater anti-inflammatory impact than -MSH, and scientists have recently speculated that KPV may attenuate the inflammatory reactions of colonic epithelial and immune cells and decrease the prevalence of colitis. They further hypothesized that KPV may perform anti-inflammatory by blocking inflammatory pathways inside cells.
